1 T vegetable oil
3 celery ribs, thinly sliced
1 sm onion, finely chopped
1½ lbs ground beef
1 T + 1 t hot paprika
1 10¾ oz-can condensed tomato soup
¼ c water
1 T tomato paste
Salt and pepper
For biscuits:
1½ c flour
1 T baking powder
¼ t celery seed
1 t salt
5 T crisco
¾ c milk
Preheat oven to 450°. Warm oil in a cast iron skillet, then cook celery and onion until soft. Add beef and brown. Add paprika, cook for 1 minute, then add remaining ingredients and cook until heated through.
Prepare biscuits: In bowl, mix dry ingredients, then cut in shortening. Stir in milk. (If you prefer more biscuits, increase all measurements by 1.5).
Arrange spoonfuls of batter on top of beef mixture in the skillet, 1” from the edge. Bake for 20 minutes, then let stand 10 minutes before serving.
